Is Decreasing The Dose Of Amlodipine Advisable For Low BP?

Question: I am taking amlodipine 5-20 twice a day and carvedilol 3.25 mg daily, in addition I take 40 mg Paxil and venlaxafine. Which is causing my low blood pressure. And if I cut amlodipine to once a day would I be OK. I go to my own doctor tomorrow.

I read your query very carefully.

Hypotension (low blood pressure) is a side effect of the medications you are taking. Reducing the dose of Amlodipine 5-20mg to once a day may help you to increase the BP.

This is why I strongly recommend to reduce the dose of Amlodipine for 1-2 weeks. If the BP will persist to be low you should reduce the dose of Paxil and Venlaxafine.
