Is Delayed Period Symptom Of Pregnancy?

Question: Hello doctor - I have a question related to possible pregnancy. I have an average of 35 day cycle and my last period started on Feb 11 and ended on Feb 15. I had sex with my boyfriend on Feb 19th and he was wearing a condom and did not ejaculate inside of me. We also checked for any leaks in the condom later and there werent any. What is the possibility that this can lead to a pregnancy. I have been reading a bit about precum and he had not ejaculated atleast for 24hrs before we had sex. I am 2 days late for my period so am getting stressed out. Can you please tell me what is the possibility I could be pregnant. Also, is the method we follow safe - We use Condom + Pull Out on days when I assume I am not fertile. Please let me know. Thank you!

Brief Answer: Negligible chances of pregnancy. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. Pre-ejaculatory (or pre-cum) fluid does have sperm in it but is in very, very minimal amount. Technically speaking pre-ejaculate does not actually contain sperm in it, but can pick up leftover sperm from the man's urethra from previous ejaculations. The chances are extremely low that you will get pregnant from pre-ejaculate as there were no ejaculations in last 24 hours. Furthermore the fact that the intercourse has happened during the infertile period of your cycle further reduces the risk to negligible. The fertility is more after 10 days of last period and before 10 days of the expected period. The delay in periods could be related to stress and anxiety. You can test your urine for pregnancy to be sure. Wait for your periods for one more week and take progesterone like norethisterone if there are no periods for a withdrawal bleeding. If you are using condom then your boyfriend needs to put it before the start of the act. Using only condoms + pull out has 95% protection rate against pregnancy. Thank you Doctor...If my partner were wearing the condom the whole time even after he pulled out and never ejaculated, is there a possibility of the precum getting inside of me to get me pregnant? I will be testing shortly but I am not able to get through the night thinking about the possibilities. Thank you

Thanks for your advice doctor. One last question. We want to establish the safest way to have sex going forward and I am not open to taking pills. Other than not having sex at all, do you see a safer way for us to have sex than the practice followed last time - i.e. Condom + Pull Out (with the condom on) + Not having intercourse/masturbating in previous 24hrs atleast followed by urinating several times to keep urethra clear + No ejaculation anywhere near me after withdrawal. I want to ensure we follow the least risk approach while avoiding pills. Thank you for all the help. You have been great!
