Is Discontinuing Pravastatin Advisable While Having Stents In Artery?

Try to continue crestor or its generic. Taking lipitor not advisable
Detailed Answer:
Respected sir, I am Dr. Mody and I would be addressing your concerns here.
I went through the history in detail, and thank you for providing the same.
All three lipitor/pravastatin and rosuvastatin (crestor) are different statin.
There role after the bypass and angioplasty is not just control of lipids but also plaque stabilisation, it means it doesn't allow new blockages to from, or old blockages to increase with time. As per XXXXXXX college of society guidelines, a person should be on statin for lifetime and not just till lipids are in control for its various attack and that to on high does.
1)Now the most important point, Sir once you had liver damage because of the statin you CANNOT take it ever back, so I wouldn't recommend you to take lipitor
2)because you had triple bypass and complete reconstruction of RCA, your procedure fits into complex revascularisation procedure, and you should ideally take crestor without any interpretation in between .
So what can we do?
1) by no means can you take lipitor
2) crestor is the ideal bet, and you may discuss it with the concerned authority, that you need creator as a compulsion, because you are not tolerant to any other statin.
3) you may consider taking the generic rosuvastatin, which is the component of crestor
4) if you decide not to take any there is a small but definitive risk of rested osis, you may consider taking alternative like omega 3 fatty acid supplement, cut on oil and cards for the month, fish to be preffered meal and ni red meat and egg yellow.
5) lastly if all alternative don't work reduced dose of lipitor on alternate days may be tried, though personally I don't recommend
Hoping I could help
