Is Ejection Fraction Value Of 70% A Cause For Concern?

I usually take a small dose of beta blocker ( concor ) of size 1.25 mg in the mornings for palpitations.
But I took 2 can beer (500 ml each of 8% alcohol) at noon due to a small party.....after which I slept. Two hours later my heart started pounding or beating at a rate of 95 beats which is very uncomfortable for me.
Moreover I would like to mention that all blood works, ECG, ECHO and TMT done recently are all in normal range with EF 70%.
I would like to know that whether I can take additional 1.25 or 2.5 mg now to subside my palpitations.
In order to relieve your symptoms take another pill of Concor 1.25 mg
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
Your HR (95 b.p.m) is at the upper border of the norm. However it can cause discomfort and other your symptoms.
This symptoms are caused by drinking alcohol (even a beer) with two mechanisms:
- Direct cardiac over stimulation by alcohol
- GERD (acid reflux) or stomach exacerbation by alcohol.
In order to relieve your symptoms you may take another dose of Concor 1.25 mg. Moreover if you were my patient I would recommend as follows:
- Drink plenty of water
- Take PPI (prilosec) otc for stomach exacerbation
- Take Magnesium supplements
Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
