Is Experiencing A High Pain Threshold Normal?
Rule out diabetes and thyroid problems.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
Sometimes it depends on how low/high the pain level is for a person. If you have been all your life like this, then it just means that you are a person that deals with the pain like this.
On the other side you need to rule out possible problems that would make you not feel the pain. Diabetes is one of those problems that gives distal neuropathia. If you are obese, with family history for diabetes, I would recommend doing a fasting sugar test.
Thyroid problems need to be ruled out as well.
The very last person that would definitely give you a final answer is a local neurologist who may perform a physical exam and see if your sensitivity is normal.
These are the most common. But if yo have other symptoms, that would lead me or your local doctor into considering other possible causes.
If you are healthy, because you are rather young, then you need not to worry about.
Hope this is helpful.
