Brief Answer:
Genital warts are caused by HPV. Not by HIV
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I would like to correct you.
Warts are caused by HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). Not by HIV.
HIV (Human Immonodeficiency Virus) is a different virus. It causes AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). Not warts.
It is a protocol that if an individual is diagnosed with a particular STD e.g Genital warts in your case, he/ she should also be screend for other STDs like HIV, Syphilis, Genital Herpes because he/she may also be infected with other STDs but don't have signs or symptoms of these other STD's i.e the infection hidden, which can only be detected by laboratory tests. Therefore I asked you to screen for other STD's like Syphilis with VDRL, Genital Herpes with HSV ELISA and also for HIV.
Regards
Hope this is clear
