Is Greenish Discharge From Tongue Piercing Symptom Of MRSA?
Question: I've had my tongue pierced for 8 years. Recently, I removed it for 1 month to have a dental procedure and the hole closed up. I then had it re-pierced by a professional. 2 weeks later the swelling subsided as did the redness however the discharge is green and is a little painful. Although I was told its not believed to be infected, I have been prescribed Augmentin twice a day for 10 days however what are chances of contracting MRSA?

Dear Ms,
Its definitely not MRSA. Its more likely to be Pseudomonas infection which usually presents with greenish discharge.
As you are already on antibiotics there is no cause for concern. Apart form antibiotics, local application of Vinegar will be curative. Also gargle mouth with Chlorexidine mouth wash thrice a day, alternating with warm saline gargling.
In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
