Is Honey Safe For A Baby?

Question: Hi ...plz help Yday n today i gave honey to my 3weeks baby ..den i read it on net its nt gud giving honey to LO.....i really hd no idea abt it....plZzz help me...wat shud i do nw....?wat wil happen to my baby????......plz reply as soon as possible....plz

Baby should be given exclusive breast feeding till 6 months of age and no other supplement is needed. Honey should be given after one year of age. Thnx dr....... She is passing motions....bt its same lyk daily.....loose....n passing motions 6-7tym in a day....will nt giv her honey nw on...bt m scared abt two days honey which i already hv given her....i spoke to my pediatrician as well....he also said der is nothing to worry....

Thnx fo ur prompt reply dr... I read abt infant botulism due to honey on net.....hw common dis desease is??wat r d symptoms of it??as u asked i kept watch in her bowel movement...she passed stools thrice in a day...she used to do 5-6 tyms in a day...m scared....i gave her 3-4drops honey twice....she ws sleepy thru out d day....her pediatrition is out of town...so cudnt take her to dr....plzz help....shud i worry abt dis botulism??

Brief Answer: relax. Detailed Answer: Thanks again. Please do not be so anxious. Your baby will be fine. Botulism is not very common. Symptoms are uaually paralysis,difficulity in breathing,listless baby. If baby is active and accepting feeds normally there ia nothing to worry. Hope this helps. Take care..

Hello dr synthyia She is nt accepting feed since last nite...m feeding her forcefully bt she is sucking it only for 2-3minutes....n since morning she hsnt passed any motion.....m worried....today is sunday.....clinics r closed.....r der any home remedy fo constipation...plz help...hope dis problem is nt associated wid honey which i gave her last week....plz help....m really worried....

Brief Answer: hi Detailed Answer: Thanks again. I understand your concern. Not Passing stools for a day is not a matter of much concern provided baby is active. But in case she is not accepting feeds or is lethargic and there is decreased output of urine than I suggest you to take her to ER for proper diagnosis and treatment. Hope this helps. Take care

Hi My daughter is crying a lot bfore passing urine n stools....family physician hs priscribed bonnesen himalaya drops....is it safe giving dese drops to such a small baby??hw long shud i giv dese drops.....?
