Is Inhalation Of Alkyl Nitrites Harmful?
Question: While sniffing poppers, I accidentally spilled some into my nose... I was lying on the bed, heads-up, so I felt how it went inside all the way through my ears...
It first felt like burning inside the ear... Now it's been 12 hours, and I hear strange... Like when there is water on the ears... Is it dangerous? Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Not, serious one.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you have sniffed poppers.
Poppers (chemical formula-amyl nitrite), is a smooth muscle relaxant ) used in angina ( heart pain).
As such it causes head-ache ( fall of blood pressure) and burning sensation instantly but the episode lasts with in seconds.
In your case, it could be ear infection, secondary to
burning of amyl nitrate.
I suggest you to visit an Ent surgeon for assessment and proper treatment.
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions

Okay, I went through the night and today I feel much better.
However, I still have a little sensation on the ear, but it's minimal.
Can this leave some long-term consequence?
Maybe I should have mention that I also have the flu, so I'm not sure if this could also be the reason for the feeling.
