Brief Answer:
high HbA1c is dangerous for the foetus.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query,
AT HbA1C level of 9 , it is not recommended to continue the pregnancy as it increases the chances of cardiac defects in the foetus if pregnancy is continued. You should plan your pregnancy only after you get you levels controlled and the HbA1C levels are brought between 5-6 .
I hope i have conveyed the message loud and clear...
Its best for you as a couple now as high levels are dangerous for the foetus.

Detailed Answer:
Well, the decision is completely yours .
If you wish to continue , then during the pregnancy there are various check points where targeted anomaly scan can be performed at 13-15 weeks of pregnancy when if any cardiac defect is present , it can be detected and then the decision can be taken for termination or continuation.
But with HBA1C of 9 , it indicates your pre pregnancy sugar control which is not healthy and ideally not advised to continue. But if emotional factors are a concern , then you may choose to continue and watch for the scans and just wish that baby doesn't have any cardiac defects or any other congenital anomalies which are very common in diabetic mothers.
