What Causes Rapid Heart Rate?

this past year i had my first child. and gained forty pounds which put me at 270. i had gestational diabetes but not any symptoms since. but lately while doing nothing i will feel my heart rate increase rapidly for a few seconds. what could be the cause?

Hi,

If you experience the rapid heart rate so it can be due to anxiety.

Else for cardiac illness it has to be confirmed by EKG and it is the only test that confirms the tachycardia, else it could be the stress and anxiety that increases the heart rate for a few seconds.

Still, it is most advisable to get done the EKG to rule out the abnormal heart rhythm
