Question: I have type 2 diabetes and i have a sore throat and fever and my glands are big- will i need antibiotics?

I have tyoe 2 diabetes and migraines no allergies i take metformin and metiprolol and crestor

Do you have prior tonsils issues?

Do you have high fever?

Does your sugar stay in control?

According to your present history and symptoms I will definitely recommend you to visit a doctor and get prescribed antibiotics if he thinks they are required.

I my opinion you need them.

If you were a patient in my clinic,

I would recommend you

...tylenol 500 mg thrice a day...

..cold spounging

..Augmentin 625 mg twice a day for 7 days.

This really helps getting rid of infections.

Specially in diabetics you need a better cover against infections because in uncintrolled diabetes infections can get real bad.

It will be upto your doctor if he wants to discuss tonsils surgery with you but that will depend upon condition of your tonsils.
