It is very common to gain weight after menopause.
Yes you can take vitamin and calcium supplements as advised by your doctor.
Take a note of following points -

- avoid long hunger intervals
- avoid eating more at one go and rather have small frequent meals
- avoid sugar and other sweets
- avoid excess of salt intake
- avoid salt after 8 pm (except in meals)
- avoid potato and rice in daily meals
- take ample amount of water
- do brisk walking twice a day for at least 20 mins
- keep a schedule of eating and try to maintain an eating time daily at around same time with a fluctuation of less than an hour

But my question is dr has told me take estrogen harmones for 3 years which i am scared to do as my grand mother was a brest cancer patient. so can i only take calcium and vitamin d supplements instead of harmones. also since two months i have not got my periods.
no need to take hormone therapy
Detailed Answer:
Yes in my opinion you don't need hormone therapy and rather only calcium and vitamin D supplements will suffice.
And seeing the history of breast cancer, you should not take hormones at all.
So just start the supplements and see for the general wellbeing and in case you feel alright then just follow the simple precautions I have told you in our previous discussion.
All the best.
