Yes, you can give, there is no harm in it.Calpol is basically used to treatment of fever, but is mild analgesic also.
You can safely give him.
Normally the gums start developing by the age of about five and half month and teeth comes at about 6-7 months. Again this is not a rule it can come early.
You can even use different local preparation available in market which can provide soothing. They are gel like substance which provides some relief for some time.
During this time please maintain good hand hygiene for him. He would like to put any semi solid or solid things in his mouth during this time as he his having irritation and pain in gums.
This is normal and most of the kids get teeth without much difficulty.
