Is It Possible To Break Hymen Through Masturbation?
Question: Hi, I had never had intercourse, but I have inserted my finger into my vagina just to investigate my body. Not for masturbation purposes. I am worried that my hymen is broken. I have actually tried to check with a mirror and light but can not see any hymen. Is it deep inside or have I broken it?
Brief Answer:
It is unlikely that you have broken the hymen.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
Hymen is at the vaginal opening. It is not placed deep inside.
Hymen is quite stretchable in some. It is unlikely that you have broken it with one finger.

thank you for your reply.
But when I try to look at it using mirror and light i can not see anything, I just see the vaginal opening and no membrane around it. I have looked at pictures online of how it looks and my vagina does definitely not look like it has a hymen. I do not see any hymen around the opening.
I should also let you know then my fiance had tried to insert into me but he never actually fully inserted into me and I never felt any pain or had any pain, or felt anything tearing.
Is it actually possible for a human eye other than a doctor to be able to see the hymen?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
If your fiance has inserted partially there is a possibility that hymen may be broken.
Hymenal tear does not always cause pain.
I also want to say that hymen can be broken with the use of tampoon and sports too.
If you want confirmed answer I suggest you to consult Gynecologist.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama.

The photos have been uploaded. Please note that I had my period and it only stopped yesterday, just in case it has any effect.
Were the pics uploaded?

The hymen seems normal.

Hi,
Welcone back.
I saw the photos.
The hymen seems normal. If torn its edges would be irregular.

Thank you once again for the time you are taking to answer my questions.
I by no means doubt your expertise but can you please explain to me which part of it was actualy a hymen. From the researches I have made I should have seen a whitish membrane at the opening of the vagina. To me my opening looked without any tissue covering.
Do you confirm that I do indeed have an intact hymen and can you please elaborate more on that?
Thank yoi in advance.

Hi,
Welcome back again.
Hymen is not a whitish membrane. It is pinkish only.
You can see it clearly encircling the vagina.
First feel that protruding tissue at 6 o'clock position of the opening of vagina. That is the hymen. Follow it all around the vaginal opening. That is the complete hymen.
I hope I have made it clear to you.
If any further concerns, you can always write to me.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
