Is It Possible To Have Developed Cataracts During Therapy Of Amlodpine?

Question: Is it possible to have developed cataracts during therapy of amlodpine? I ask because I have had some of the side affects afore mentioned .This could be a side effect not seen or reported before?? Thank -you for your time & answer...
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Amlodipine therapy itself does not cause cataract as a side effect. Some patients taking Amlodipine have reported cataract but there is no causative association seen with Amlodipine.
Cataract is an age related degenerative change of the lens of the eye and is commonly seen in patients with osteoporosis, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, osteopenia, etc.
Hope this answers your query. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
