Question: I have been told my a dermatologist to use Glomax Lip gel as the lower

Brief Answer:
This product is fine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

This product is fine. You may continue with it.
Mandelic acid and liquorice are skin lightening agents and it should work fine for pigmentation on lip. Niaciniamide is antiinflammatory.
These agents are non-irritating and are good for sensitive skin areas like lip.

Thanks for the reply. The doctor has told me to apply this gel at night
but since I come back from office after 1'o clock in the night, so
can I apply it then during bedtime? I think that shouldn't be a problem.
Moro ever the doctor whom I had consulted earlier before this had told
me to apply Demelan on the dark portion of the lips. I had applied for around 1-2 weeks. But it didn't work.
Moreover this doctor had told me that Demelan is not
meant for the lips. Can you throw some light on this?
I have some dark pimple spots on the face. Can I use No Marks cream?

The doctor has told me to apply Glomax lip gel for around two months
after which she will see the result. I hope this gel doesn't darken the lips more.
Does it? Please let me know whether there will be any side effects.

She has told that she will see the result or else do a chemical peel.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Advice regarding use of pigment reducing gel and dark pimple spots

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I totally agree with your doctor.

Demelan is not meant to be used on lips. It can cause irritation on lips and in turn more pigmentation.

Yes, you may use glomax gel before going to bed.
The constituents of this gel are gentle and suitable for use on lips and you can expect an improvement.

For dark pimple spots on face you may use Demelan, twice daily. I won't suggest Nomarks.
You can also take a few sessions of Glycolic acid chemical peeling for dark spots on face.

Thanks doctor.
However I'm a bit unhappy with the earlier doctor since
she had told me to apply Demelan on the pigmented area of the lip
and when I asked a doctor online he too said that it's ok to apply Demelan.
How can a doctor prescribe something
which is not suitable? That's the reason why I consulted
a another dermatologist who had now prescribed Glomax Lip gel.
Now, my only concern is that since I applied Demelan one and half month back
only for around 1 or 2weeks and discontinued after that, I hope the cream wouldn't have caused further pigmentation. I'm a bit worried about that.
Please suggest.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Mandelic acid is non-irritating and therefore can be safely used on lips

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

'Demelan' is also a depigmenting/ skin lightening cream. It contains ingredients like kojic acid and glycolic acid.
Because glycolic acid is irritating, it can be a little harsh for sensitive skin of lips.

Though it is not irrational to use demelan cream for hyerpigmentation but this cream was not primarily meant for use lips.
It was originally meant for use in patients with facial hyperpigmentation.

Mandelic acid present in glomax lip gel is less irritating than glycolic acid and therefore a better option to be used on sensitive skin of lips.

But since I had used Demelan for around 1-2 weeks,
on the dark portion of my lips I hope that wouldn't be a problem, right?
Now, anyways, I've started using Glomax Lip gel.

As you had said earlier that I can use Demelan
for acne scars, so do I need to wash the face
before applying it?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
wash face before using demelan

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Its ok that you used demelan only for a short while on lips and then discontinued it.
Yes, you need to wash your face before applying demelan.
Initially use it once daily on face at night for a week.
If there is no irritation or redness you may then use it twice daily.

Thanks. I just had a concern.
Around 4-5 years back I had a habit of masturbating.
Does masturbation leads to hyperpigmentation on lips
by any chance?

Brief Answer:
Masturbation would not cause lip pigmentation

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

No. Masturbation has no such effect. However, smoking can.

Hi,

The doctor has told me to apply Glomax lip gel for around 2 months.
After that she will see the changes and advise for a chemical peel.
She told that one chemical peel won't be sufficient. In fact, I'll
have to go for around 2-3 chemical peels. After the chemical peel
also I'll have to apply this gel.
Actually I don't want to go for a chemical peel. I hope this gel
should work. Does this gel cause more hyperpigmentation?

Is chemical peel dangerous? I'm a bit sceptical.
What is it actually and does it work for hyperpigmentation on lips?
Also I have some Fordyce spots on the corner my lips.
I'm applying the gel on the lower portion of my lips and the Fordyce spots
are on the corner of my lips. I hope this gel won't affect the spots.
Please elaborate.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
I could'nt agree more with your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Chemical peels are also effective for skin lightening. However, they are not the only resort to pigmentation.

Some doctors have a low threshold for chemical peels and they suggest peels along with topical treatment, however, others may wait and see how the topical treatment works and then decide whether or not to do a peel.

Peels are effective yet safe, though there might be some transient irritation/ itching from application of peel solution and some redness post - peel, however, these side effects are transient and usually go away.
As the name suggests, chemical peels would gradually exfoliate existing excess pigment. Glycolic peel, mandelic acid peel, kojic acid peel etc are examples of skin lightening peels

The gel that you use contains skin lightening agents and hopefully should work.

This gel won't worsen fordyce spots.

Hi,

I was just a bit sceptical about this lip gel. However I'm
using it daily. Just wanted to know as to whether it causes
more hyperpigmentation. Please let me know.

Moreover this lip gel is brownish in colour.

After waking up in the morning, do I need to wipe the portion
of the lips where I had applied the gel overnight before brushing my teeth
or I need not?

The doctor has also prescribed Limcee Vitamin C tablets. I'm also having these tablets.

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
Continue treatment as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Don't think it would cause more hyperpigmentation.
You can wipe it off after at least 6-8 hours application.
