Brief Answer:
Buspirone should be avoided with alcohol

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can understand your concern. First of all I would like to tell you that Buspirone is not an illegal substance. It is a prescription medicine used in mild to moderate anxiety conditions. The drug is safe drug and is free of any risk of dependence or abuse of taken as per prescription. So no need to worry regarding that.

Hydroxizine is also an Antianxiety drug which is an antihistaminic. The drug if taken with Buspirone can cause increased sedation, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision as side effect. Over all there are not much risk if both are taken together in precribed doses.

Buspirone should be avoided completely with Alcohol. It can result in serious sedation and side effects. It can prolong sedation caused by alcohol. No other serious interactions.

Thanks, Hope this helps you, if you have more doubts you can ask again

He has obtained these drugs not from a prescription for himself but from another source that is why I was concerned of what he could or is doing with them as a recreational drug. He is drinking alcohol with whatever he is taking we know that, he is also smoking marijuana. He of course either denies his use or expresses he sees nothing wrong with what he does - my husband is also in some denial about the problem. We have been told that he is also snorting drugs (not sure which ones or if either one of these could be done in that manner and what those effects). . . to my knowledge he is not on any prescription meds everything we have found is being obtained in another manner. Any advice on things to look for? This morning he woke up vomiting - last night at a family dinner I did see a significant personally change during the evening - he is normally pretty quiet and then he goes to talkative and overally complimentary of everyone around him.. . .

Brief Answer:
He should stop Marijuana as this may result in psychosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Alcohol and Marijuana both are the substances that should need great attention. Alcohol abuse can be noticed easily. In case of Marijuana or Cannabis individuals develop disinhibited behaviour, they may become over talkative, develop psychotic symptoms like hallucinatory behaviour some times suspiciousness etc. Watch for such symptoms if he develops.

Lack of motivation, poor social interaction, repetitive drug seeking behaviours are other presenting signs of any addiction.

Try to talk with him and built a confidence. He should open up in front of you.

Buspirone and Hydroxizine are not common substances of abuse and are not used for recreational purpose. Try to find out from where he procured the medicines. Watch for his room for any evidence of smoking marijuana.

Thanks.

Thank you! I have been watching his room and found the signs above. Getting him to open up is pretty much impossible - he lies about everything, just saying whatever he thinks will get him out of the conversation at the time.

Thanks again for your answers. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Try to talk to him and build a sense of confidence in him

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX ..

Please try to build confidence in him. He is at such age that he would doubt anything and this is really difficult but still with persistence you can find out any drug seeking behaviour in him.

Thanks. Take care
