Question: hi dr.. isit safe to do pap smear when tcc? im now ovulating.. will the result be different n will it harm if im in early pregnancy?

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

What do you mean by tcc...kindly expand ?

Pap can be done while ovulating , the result will be the same as far as disease is concerned .

Do not do pap in early pregnancy as it might cause abortion and also give wrong answers due to hormonal changs.

Yes you can do pap when trying to conceive.

But not during pregnancy .

And ovulation will not affect it as far as finding disease is concerned.

Its not that you cannot do but what is the point

a) Due to the hormone changes in your pregnancy it might show an abnormal report even though everything is normal.

b) Also the pap is done with a stick put inside your vagina. If not done carefully it can lead to abortion due to damage to your cervix .
why you want that risk

ok dr.. im just worried now coz im doing the pap smear this fri n my ovulation ends tomorrow.. n im trying to conceive.
will it affect the implantation if there is.. sorry im very scared n being careful due to my 2 times miscarriage..the first which is last year may.. n 2nd is this year april n its becoz of my wisdom tooth surgery.. wheen I did the surgery it shows negative next 5 days shows positive..
