Is It Safe To Do Aerobic Exercises When Having High BP?
Question: If I have no history of heart issues and a normal ekg, but my migraines are causing my BP to rise to 172/110 (159/95 since Lisinopril), am I still in danger of a stroke or heart attack?
I have gained and lost 100 lbs many times over the past 25 years. While losing weight, I had a strenuous exercise schedule; while binge eating and gaining weight, I have been sedentary. I realize the yo-yo dieting must stop; and I need to lose the weight and keep it off.
Is it unwise to resume aerobic exercise now to lose weight, while my BP is high?

Brief Answer:
Blood pressure needs to be controlled
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your question.
Your BP need to be brought under control. The target should be 140/90mmHg or lesser. you need to change or add on medicines.
If tolerated beta blockers would be preferred choice, medicines such as nebivolol would help you to control BP as well as migraine but would need additional medications as well.
About strenuous exercise, you need to to wait for BP control but routine walking and simple aerobics can be done at present BP as well.
Hope this addresses your question, please do write back if you have additional concerns.
Best regards

Thank you doctor, for your time.
My recent blood work (of yesterday) reveals elevated liver enzymes possibly consistent with fatty liver disease; and I also recently began taking vitamin supplements that include CoQ10. Does that affect your recommendation for nebivolol?

Brief Answer:
Okay Your liver enzyme raise doesn't contraindicate use
Detailed Answer:
Raised liver enzymes don't contraindicate use of the Nebivolol. But if it's significantly raised, the problem may not just fatty liver. It could be more than that.
Even if it's only causing minor raise and attributable to fatty liver it is called XXXXXXX and has some specific treatment. please consult gastroenterologist
