Is It Safe To Go For Cervical Fusion While Suffering From Ramsey Hunt Syndrome?
I was supposed to have multi level cervical fusions on the 9th of Feb and am still recovering from multi level lumbar fusions that were performed in September which resulted in requiring 2 liters transfusion due to bleed..
My question is with these numbers and still dealing with the XXXXXXX Hunt Syndrome and lingering flu like symptoms, 1st am I anemic and 2nd wouldn't it be better to postpone the neck surgery until the numbers come up and the XXXXXXX Hunt is resolved and 3rd how long does it usually take to be over the XXXXXXX Hunt its still very painful and itches don't know how to really describe. But after having such a tough time from last surgery and now these latest issues questioning how prudent to do the cerivcal surgery and how long should I wait?
Thanks for any input
Delay cervical fusion for three months
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I can assure you that cervical fusion is not an emergency and it can be postponed for three months. As far as anemia is concerned your haemoglobin is normal and you are not anemic.
But if you are having XXXXXXX hunt syndrome and do not want to go for surgery right now than you need to wait for two to three months as it is time which is needed to completely resolve this syndrome.
Though having this problem it is not contraindication for surgery. But if you are feeling pain and itching than delay this surgery and first get relieved with this and than plan for surgery.
I hope this itching and pain will be normal after six weeks. Some time it can stay up to 2 months.
I hope I have answered all your queries. Let me know if you want to ask any other questions.
Thanks
