safe to take these drugs during periods; need some details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Ovacare forte is a micronutrient supplement which is usually prescribed for normalization of menses in cases of PCOD.

Follinal plus contain iron and folic acid.

These drugs are safe to take during periods.

However, treatment of cause of irregular periods is must for future pregnancy.

Is cause of irregular periods in your case identified by your doctor?
Does she suspects PCOD as the cause for your irregular menses?
What has been the pattern of your periods in recent past?

The answers to these questions will help me to give you a better advice.

Is cause of irregular periods in your case identified by your doctor?
No. It was me who told doctor about my irregular periods.

Does she suspects PCOD as the cause for your irregular menses?
No. I guess. When I told doctor that my periods are very irregular & I am trying to conceive. She gave me these medicines & told to continue them till i conceive.

What has been the pattern of your periods in recent past?
Pattern is like that for last 5 periods :
08/July/2014 (45 days)
01/Sept/2014 (55 days)
24/Nov/2014 (84 days)
28/Jan/2015 (65 days)
28/Feb/2015 (31 days)

Number of days are duration between my next period.

I have started taking these medicines since Dec 2014

Brief Answer:
causes of irregular menses to be determined.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the details.

Dear,
You have very irregular periods.
So it is very important to determine the cause.
Most of the time, treatment of the cause can normalize the periods.
So I would suggest you to go for some investigations to rule out some common causes of irregular menses:
1. Thyroid function tests to rule out thyroid dysfunction.
2. Serum prolactin, LH, FSH levels.
3. Fasting blood sugar levels.
4. An ultrasound scan and physical examination to rule out PCOD.

Most of these conditions are manageable with drugs. The important thing is choice of right drug and treatment plan.

The drugs which you are taking, although safe, may not help in conception or regularization of menses.

Kindly consult a gynecologist for further management.

Feel free to discuss further.

Thanks.
