It is ok to have sex during periods and I cannot think of any problems that can happen due to sex during that time.
In fact, the chances if getting pregnant are very low during periods. There is just one risk of transmitting STDs during periods, since the cervical mucous has been washed out due to blood flow. But this question usually does not arise in monogamous relationships.
Thus it is ok to have sex during periods.
