Is It Safe To Increase Norvasc Dose For High BP?

6.25 (decreased from 12.5 because my hair is falling out). This was started because of anxiety/panic attacks I started with over 5 very traumatizing events in my life. My B/P continues high so the Norvasc was started.
Thank you. XXXXXXX
It is the right thing, needs monitoring
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,
I do understand this could be concerning, especially when more than one drug is used to control one condition.
It is important to note that its important in high blood pressure management to meet treatment targets. I would want to believe if your doctor is increasing the dose of your calcium Channel blocker, Norvasc, it is because he wants you diastolic blood pressure to be below 90 at least, for benefits of blood pressure management, especially preventing complications to be obtained.
Persons react differently to different anti hypertensive drugs. The equilibrium between the search of efficacy of a drug, meeting treatment targets and managing drug side effects needs to be managed with caution. I think you doctor is doing a good job by being keen on how you react to your drugs, eg, like reducing the dosage of Carvedilol, and increasing the dose of Norvasc, in order that the blood pressure targets be obtained.
In my opinion, the maximal dosage of Amlodipine, Norvasc is generally 10mg. It is reasonable, in your case for the dosage of the drug to be increased.
I think you continue the treatment as prescribed. Monitor your BP carefully and report any side effects to your doctor. Enough rest, relaxation , exercise, diet, and avoiding being sedentary would be helpful.
Kind regards as I wish you the best of health.
