Is It Safe To Switch From Rotateq To Rotarix Type For Rotas Virus Vaccination?
Question: Hello Sir,
I just moved with my 3 months old daughter to XXXXXXX from XXXXXXX on 8th July we have given my daughter first dose of rota virus vaccine drops ROTATEQ in XXXXXXX But when we visited the Hospitals in XXXXXXX for second dose of same vaccine, doctors here said that ROTATEQ brand is not available here and I will have to give her ROTARIX Injection here.
Rotateq require 3 doses at an interval of month and is provided in terms of drops and Rotarix requires 2 doses and is provided by injection.
My question is:
1. will it be safe for her to move from Rotateq to Rotarix in above situation?

Brief Answer:
Yes, its safe to change from rotateq to rotarix
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM
I understand your concerns but don't worry. Many a times we have to shift from rotateq to rotarix or the other way round due to non availability of a type.
The only thing we need to take care is that the baby should receive all the doses. So, in your baby you need to give 2 doses of rotarix apart from one dose of rotateq which he already received previously. It won't harm him and will give him the same amount of protection.
Hopefully I have answered your question. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
