Brief Answer:
There are no safety issues in giving amoxicillin after OPV.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I can assure you that the oral polio vaccination has nothing to do with the episode of cough that your child is suffering from. Although most of the episodes of cough and cold are due to certain viruses, sometimes antibiotics like amoxycillin are prescribed to treat any superadded bacterial infection if any. There are no safety issues in giving amoxicillin after OPV. You can administer it safely.

Giving steam inhalation to your child should be helpful. Just sit with the child in your lap and place the source of steam before you. The water vapour will be in the air and automatically the child would breathe it in. It will help in diluting the phlegm and would provide relief.

Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
Steam is water vapour. It evaporates from boiling water.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

When you boil water till it is steaming hot, and place this water in a container, the hot water vapours come out. This is the source of steam or water vapour. It can help in diluting the phlegm.
