Yes! It is required at this stage of pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.

First of all congratulations for your pregnancy.

I know how much important this pregnancy is to you and how much effort you are putting in it.
Yes! injection proluton depot is important at this stage of pregnancy, it is usually given upto 24 weeks of pregnancy.
Proluton is a synthetic progesterone which is given in pregnancy to support it and prevent loss of pregnancy( abortion).
Proluton is naturally produce by placenta but it is given from outside to fulfil the deficiency of progesterone which may occur during pregnancy.

In your case it is required because you have twin pregnancy, your age and it is after IVF treatment.

Yes! the symptoms which you have mentioned may be the side effect of injection and I can understand your pain.

There are some advices for your symptoms-
1) You can change the injection site
2) You can take injection from an expert
3) Use cold compress
4) Use some local ointment for itching
5) Use small quantity initially

If you are not relieved after taking all the precuation then in my opinion you should consult your treating doctor and let her examine you and decide whether it is needed or not.

Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to help you.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa
