Brief Answer:
It is safe to take

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. Welcome to HCM.

Taking mexazolam is safe in case of you. You are taking atenolol which will take care of anxiety during the day time. Mexazolam will help you in sleeping.

Mexazolam is a benzodiazepine drug which develops tolerance to its effects after 2 to 3 weeks of continuous usage. Actually benzodiazepines are not approved for long term usage. If use them for more than 3 to 4 weeks result in the higher chances of developing tolerance and dependence.

Tolerance means after few weeks of regular usage the same amount of drug loses its effects and you require higher dosage. Dependence means when you stop or decrease the dose of the drug you will have withdrawal symptoms.

So, for controlling the anxiety in short term basis it can be taken but long term use is not allowed.

There is no significant interaction between these two drugs, you can continue them. Visit your doctor as scheduled and discuss all these issues with him.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further query then feel free to ask.

Wish you good health.
