Is It Safe To Take Crystal Meth While Breastfeeding?
Question: Hi I'm breastfeeding a 5 month old baby. I'm thinking of taking crystal meth while she is being baby sat. How long should I wait to breastfeed again? How long does it take for the drug to completely leave my breast milk?

Crystal meth is secreted in breast milk.
Breast milk becomes clear of the meth after 24-48 hours of last intake. So you should wait for 48 hours to be on safer side.
Important note and information: There are severe consequences of crystal meth on development of baby and deaths have also been reported while lactating mother has taken crystal meth. So if possible try to avoid crystal meth as far as possible.

Thanks very much for your help. So if I wait for over 48 hrs then my baby wont be at all subject to the drug? Or will it still affect my baby even after that long? It will only be a once off thing but I don't want it to affect my baby at all so if I wait for even 3 or 4 days it won't go through to my baby will it?

Yes in 48 hours almost all meth will be clear from body. However in that 48 hours some meth whcih has already been secreted in breast milk to be removed through pumping with hand or breast milk suction pump and throwing it away.
In my opinion best strategy is to remove milk on third day three to four times manually and start feeding baby on 4th day. It is the safest way.
