default
Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: I'm having Eustachian tube dysfunction or plunged since one month. I used nasal spray at the begging f the problem. I'm using now Nasal rinsing spray only after consulting the doctor. Is it okay to travel by plane while having Eustachian tube dysfunction or plunged. Can this affect the ear drum if it see 8000 ft cabin pressure while Eustachian tube is not opening. XXXX

Brief Answer: you need further investigations Detailed Answer: Hello, If you have persistent blocked eustachian tube then you need a nasal endoscopy. With this procedure we can see the opening of the eustachian tube, Any mass or tumours obstructing the tube can be seen. We advise this procedure for all adults who have persistently blocked eustachian tube. It is always better to travel in pressurised cabin. Travelling in unpressurised cabin can further aggravate your problem and can lead to ear infection. Regards, Dr Rajkishori Godhi.
