Brief Answer:
its a fungal infection....needs 7 day treatment...

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for contacting healthcare magic.

Congrats for becoming a parent first. Well regarding the vaginal fungal infection, its quite common in sexually active women and can be intertransmitted between partners.

this is not related to pregnancy or deliveryat all here. This is seen in form of thick curdy white discharge per vaginum with itching inside vagina usually seen secondary to an intercourse if the partner harbours the spore or when her local hygiene is deficient.

it is appropriate for your physician to place her on antifungal kit for 7 days. Also in my opinion you should also have been treated simultaneously. You take a course of single dose Tab FLUCONAZOLE 150mg stat for antifungal measure.please avoid intercourse till complete treatment and the pap smear is required after 1 week of treatment to check for completeness of treatment if it doesnt grow fungal spores on culture.

There is definitely no threat to her life. This is a common infection seen in women.please dont panic.
IN case of any further query please feel free to contact me directly.
