Brief Answer:
It is mostly outpatient-you can leave hospital within 6 hours after surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Most healthy, reliable patients with good home support can leave the hospital within six hours after gallbladder surgery if it is done with laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Reviews have found no significant differences for important clinical outcomes for patients discharged the same day versus admitted overnight following laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

So, it is a very safe surgery. In general you should have no activity restriction unless the umbilical incision will be particularly large. Then, limiting heavy lifting for a few weeks is advisable.
Most patients are able to return to work within one week. Patients follow up in clinic two to four weeks after their operation.

Hope this helps to give you an idea and reassure you.
