Is Laparoscopy A Painful And Risky Procedure?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Laparoscopy or HSG
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Usually if the ovulation is normal and all the other investigations of both the partners for infertility are normal, then the next step is to check the patency of both fallopian tubes. It can be done by hysterosalpingography ( HSG) or laparoscopy.
Both HSG and laparoscopy are invasive procedures, however in laparoscopy there is an added advantage to diagnose endometriosis or any other pathology in abdomen , and allows direct visualization of uterus, tubes and ovaries.
In my opinion, you can discuss with your doctor the pros and cons of HSG vs laparoscopy, and then can decide to undergo the appropriate procedure.

Hi XXXXXXX thanks for responding. The laparoscopy is done under general anaesthesia and hence there is no pain during the procedure. However, minimal pain is there after procedure for 1-2 days.
Yes, you need to take leave from work for at least 5-6 days post surgery.
