Is Laparoscopy Surgery Advisable For An Ovarian Cyst?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am 40 yrs. old and trying to conceive. My periods gets delayed sometimes a week days and i observe spotting in between before 10-12 days before my period date. Also there will be moderate bleeding sometimes less. My recent scan report says there is a cyst of 4mm size in my left ovary . My doctor here says that it should be removed using Laparoscopy surgery . I know it is hightime and difficult for me at this age to get pregnant. But I don't want to give up. It's only around 8 months I have been trying to conceive. Please suggest me if it is a problem for me if I donot undergo this surgery? Can medication won't help me. Also please help me out advising me what precaustions do I need to take to get pregnant naturally. Pls.. Pls, help me out.

Brief Answer:
Go to IVF immediately
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand you wish to conceive.
Following is my reply:
1) Laparoscopy is not required for you just for 4 mm cyst. This is likely to disappear by itself. Don't undergo laparoscopy.
2) Chances of pregnancy naturally are less at your age.
3) Please get antral follicle count done on day 2 of cycle in an IVF centre and also get AMH blood test done to check egg reserve.
4) You need to go for IVF ( Test tube baby) treatment if eggs are there in above tests. If not you need to get donor egg IVF.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
Regards
