Is Long Term Use Of Advil Advisable?
Question: I am a female, 75 years old, and have Fibromyalgia for which I have been prescribed Cymbalta (60 mg/day) which I take in the morning for the pain. I awaken each morning very fatigued. Recently I had dental surgery for which I was given 30 minutes of anesthesia. The next day I awakened so refreshed I couldn't believe it. Thus, I am assuming I am moving a lot during the night either from restless leg, snoring, or the Fibromyalgia pain. Would you recommend I take 2 Advil at bedtime to get better rest? If so, how long in months/years should I do this? Thank you for your time and consideration.
Brief Answer:
I think NO
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
I do not think Advil have any role to make your sleep refreshing. I understand your assumption but it will be better to estimate the movement during sleep by using appropriate measures like polysomnography. Once you are sure that there are movement during sleep that a counter measure can be employed depending on the type of movements and sleep quality.
I feel before you get polysomnography discuss option of Zolpidem with your doctor. This is a sleep medicine and may improve the quality of sleep.
I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.
