Question: Dear doctor...my 16 months son is having loose motions watery...which I think started with indigestion and now motions at frquent intervals...giving him ORSwater..Iis there a stomach infection as fever is about 102.

Since fever is present, there is high probability of bacterial infection, viral intestinal infections generally do not cause fever with loose stools. If your son looks dehydrated, then you should take him to a nearby hospital where they have pediatricians, right now and admit him. Your son will need a course of antibiotics like oflaxacin with metronidazole for 5 days for the infection, this is prescription only medicine, hence you will need a prescription to get that. Small children get dehydrated very fast, so if the stool number is more than 10 times, then it is highly recommended to take him to a hospital and admit him right away.
