The discomfort or pain if related to the kidneys, may have more intense presentation than you have.
Kidney pain due to stones is very severe. Yes--you may have mild to moderate pain in case of infection involving kidneys.
You need to go for an ultrasound kidney ureter and bladder; Urine complete analysis and Urine culture and sensitivity to completely rule out the kidney disease involved in this case.
Other causes for this back discomfort may be:-
Muscular spasm.
Constipation.
Indigestion.
For that a thorough physical examination is needed to see if this is a muscular spasm pain (and if there is no associated gastrointestinal symptoms).

Apply Voltaren gel, massage gently and apply heat pad.
