Question: I went to an emergency room a week ago because of some possible cardiac symptoms (I had quadruple bypass 8 months ago). Everything turned out to be fine, and I had a follow up with my cardiologist. Both docs said all of the tests and blood work were fine. However, today I received all of the lab work done in ER. My anion was 16 (normal range 7-15), but what I am really worried about is the abs lymph of 3.6 (normal range .8-3.1). I have no other symptoms that I looked up for lymphoma or other cancers this may possibly indicate. Is this number something to worry about? I put the lab tests in my profile.

I uploaded the labs

High lymphocytes

Hi and thank you for asking.

Lymphocyts are an important part of immune diseases. They help fight off diseases. You may have a lymphocyte count that is higher than wold normally be.This is harmless, temporary situation,as can occur after an illness. Some causes are 1-infections 2-autoimmune disorder 3 - vasculitis etc.At the moment you should not worry.Just repat a test 2 weeks later.

Is it true that cancer would normally be indicated by a much higher number than 3.6? Would I see other numbers high or low?

Final question. Sorry, I am really worked up. I was doing research and see that most doctors do not consider a number under 4.0 a reason for worry or retesting. Yet you asked for repeat test. Does that mean you see something in other parts of the tests?
