Is Magnesium Oxide Advisable While On Linisopril And Augmentin?

Question: I am on 20mg linisopril X 1 daily for blood pressure and recently was put on Augmentin 875-125 and wanted to know if this combination is safe? I've read where both can cause Potassium to increase and want to make sure this combo is ok to take? Also ... can I take magnesium oxide for constipation while taking the other two meds?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
These combination is generally safe and it is commonly necessary to have antibiotics for people on lisinopril or similar medications. List of side effects is always long for every medicine if you read instructions and for these two, potassium elevation is rare and usually minor and may be problematic only for patients with kidney insufficiency. So I think you can take it and you can take magnesium oxide with this. Wish you good health. Regards
