Is Medical Treatment Required Despite Having Normal Endometrial Biopsy Report?

default
Posted on Thu, 15 Oct 2015
Question: My endometrial biopsy is negative with disordered proliferation. What treatment is needed? I am 54 years old. My last period was August 2014. A few weeks ago I had pain on my left side and spotting. This is what prompted me to go to doctor. They also performed a pelvic ultrasound. My left ovary was not visible.
Should I be worried.my mother died from endometrial cancer.

Brief Answer:
Nothing active needed right now

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
In my opinion there is no need of active treatment as yet since all the tests especially the biopsy report are normal.
But in case you get spotting or post coital bleeding again then in my opinion you should consider hysterectomy instead of conservative treatment and wait and watch approach.
This I'm recommending you as you have a family history of endometrial cancer.
But in case you stay well over coming time then also get pap smear testing every 6 months for 3 years and then yearly thereafter.
Also get a baseline mammogram done once and of course a monthly breast self examination.
I hope I have answered your question but in case you have any query further, I will be glad to answer.
Regards
Dr Manisha
