Is Multiple Myeloma Hereditary?

Question: My mom was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and was wondering if it were possible that it is hereditary? I also just found a lump under my right arm pit.
Brief Answer:
No multiple myeloma is not hereditary.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Forunately no mutliple myeloma is not hereditary. Some types of cancer are more common in certain families and are associated with certain genes that are passed down. An example of this would be breast cancer.
I hope this reassures you.
Best wishes
