Myrbetriq side effects
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXXXXX
Myrbetriq is a beta-3 adrenergic agonist, and is usually prescribed for the treatment of overactive bladder with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency. It is not the primary treatment of bladder infection. Bladder infection are treated with supportive management +/- antibiotics.
Most common drugs used for treating urinary incontinence are anticholinergics or adrenergic agonists which do have side effects mentioned above like dry mouth and hypertension. Other alternatives are tricyclic antidepressants which are also useful in controlling incontinence but they also have varied side effects. Topical applications of estrogen may also be helpful.
I would suggest you discuss the above mentioned alternative drugs with her treating doctor and come to a decision.
Meanwhile, she can use over the counter rinses and sprays that increase saliva production and help reduce dryness of mouth.
Following are few tips to minimize dry mouth:
1.Drink water frequently to keep your mouth moist.
2. Carry water with you to sip throughout the day.
3. Sucking and chewing of sugar free gum or candy help stimulate saliva flow.
4. Eat soft, moist foods that are cool or at room temperature.
5. Avoid salty foods, dry foods.
6. Avoid drinks containing alcohol or caffeine.
I hope I have helped you with this answer.
