Is Nuclear Test Safe While On Methadone?
Very few side effects, not long term.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
As I understand it, you want to know if doing the nuclear test is safe, right?
There’s a small but safe amount of radiation contained in the radionuclide used in any nuclear test for the thyroid.
The exposure to radiation will be minimal and within the acceptable ranges for diagnostic exams. There are no known long-term complications of having a nuclear medicine procedure.
Allergic reactions to the radionuclide material are extremely rare. The effects are mild when they occur.
You may experience mild pain and redness at the injection site for a short time if you receive an injection of the radionuclide.
Hope this is helpful.

Methadone doesn't seem to interfere with the test results.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up question.
Your doctor will give you a list of foods and medications to avoid 24-48 hours before you will do the test. All foods that contain iodine will need to be avoided.
Methadone it is not in that list, so I would say that you don't need to stop it while doing that test. But double check it with the list and instructions that your doctor will give.
