Oral submucous fibrosis is not a disability...
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX
Welcome back
I sincerely apologize for the delay in answering the query.
1. That's exactly what I wanted to explain to you. There is no mention of sub mucous fibrosis as a disability. Disability is a condition which restricts a person from performing the routine works done by a normal and healthy person.
2. Mr. XXXXXXX I would like to inform you that the lymphadenopathy is not a disability. It is the swelling of the lymph nodes due to inflammation in the surrounding region. They are like policemen of the body which gets enlarged during an attack of infection or active inflammation. If you are apprehensive about that swelling, request your doctor for a FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology).
3. Mouth opening to the normal 3 finger breadth takes a long way to go. I cannot quote the approximate duration. You should perform regular mouth opening exercises to break the hardened fibrosis. Try taking plenty of anti-oxidant rich food which can help in reducing the fibrosis.
4. I would recommend you to take the police test and see. Be confident and do not make the reduced mouth opening look very obvious. You should get through it without any hassles.
Hope this clears your doubts. Revert back to me if you have any follow-up queries.

Yes, it is categorized under chronic diseases...
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back
You did make a valid point over here. Submucous fibrosis may be categorized under the chronic disease category.
So in that case, there are two options.
One, is to attend the recruitment process and take a chance and behave as if you never knew about this submucous fibrosis (unless they raise this issue). Second, you can try getting laser guided release of the fibrous bands, which helps in increased mouth opening. Later, you can follow the recruitment process.
Any how, you need to wait for another one week till you meet your specialist. He will be able to guide you after a thorough evaluation.
Wish you good health

You can inquire with your ENT specialist regarding the laser treatment...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing back
I would rather suggest you to wait till you meet the ENT specialist and he will be able to guide you accordingly. You can as well inquire with that specialist regarding the treatment modalities and whether he is performing the laser surgery. Laser surgery should be available in most of the centers in US.
Yes, if you can make a video clip and send me the link, I may be able to confirm the diagnosis and help you in a better way.
Mr. XXXXXXX I'm sorry! Online consultation rules doesn't allow me to disclose my personal email id or my phone number.

My diagnosis is right... Oral submucous fibrosis...
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back
I have examined the videos and the images thoroughly. I would like to stick to my diagnosis. Secondly, I could not appreciate the lymph node in the images. Palpation of the lymph node would be ideal way of identifying the same. But, a fine needle cytology or excision biopsy can confirm the cause of enlargement of the lymph nodes. Please wait for few more days before you meet the specialist doctor. He will able to give the correct information regarding the recruitment.
Hope this clears your doubts. Wish you good luck and good health.

OSMF is in grade 3...
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX
Welcome back
Your oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) of yours is in grade 3. There are no drugs as of now which can cure this completely. The following medicines can be tried to reduce the OSMF:
1. Intramucosal steroid with or without hyaluronidase can tried.
2. Pentoxifyllin taken orally can help in reliving the ankylosis.
3. Submucosal injection of placental extract can be tried.
Hope this gives you some peace of mind.

Thanks for your feedback...
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX
Welcome back
It's very nice of you for giving this feedback. Orofaciomaxillary (OFM) surgeon will indeed help you in getting this problem solved. As advised by your doctor, you can attend the interview for the police recruitment. If they reject (hope they don't), then the doctor can be more proactive in solving this issue.
Once you consult OFM surgeon, he will take a call on what would be the best mode of treatment for you. Meanwhile, consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. These are the rich source of vitamins and anti-oxidants, which can help in faster healing. Drink plenty of water, do regular mouth opening exercises and maintain the oral hygiene.
I wish you good health and good luck.
With best regards
