Posted on Wed, 28 May 2014
Question: I have severe pain in the bottom of my heel, front, sides and back of ankle. it has hurt severely every day for two months. it hurts weather I sit all day or if I am on my feet all day. on a pain scale of one-ten, the pain is a nine. I think that it may be gout because I am over weight, have A history of kindney stones , when I go to bed at night, touching the bed makes it hurt worse and my urine is dark although I drink water everyday---I don't know if that is endicative of gout???

Brief Answer:
Do blood inv like complete blood count ,uric acid

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I have studied your case,
In gout there is accumulation of uric acid crystals in joint mainly foot. This leads to swelling and redness in foot.
I will advise to do blood inv like complete blood count ,uric acid level, X ray foot and ankle.

If uric acid is raised and gout is confirmed you need to take medication and diet restriction.
Till time take analgesic and neurotropic like methylcobalamine.
For gout you may need medicine like zyloric and, allopurinol you can start then according to blood uric acid level consulting his treating doctor.
Another possibility of plantar fascitis.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Brief Answer:
Gout usually starts with inflammation of great toe

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Gout usually starts with inflammation of great toe, which is not in your case.
If you have raised uric acid level then you can start treatment for gout.

If uric acid level are normal you need to think of other diagnosis like plantar fascitis.
Plantar fascitis usually involve heel pain at bottom and posterior to ankle.
Pain usually aggravate on bare foot walking and winter.Pain is more in morning with some stiffness.
