default
Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014
Question: I was diagnosed with pinched nerves in my neck affecting my pointer middle finger and thumb yesterday. Now My wrist has began to swell and become discolored. I did not hit my wrist. do these two things usually happen together? my wrist is swollen but not hot to the touch but the pinched nerves in my neck are causing shocks in my thumb, pointer, and middle finger. Are the pinched nerves and redneess on my wrist all part of the same thing? Help me the pain is unbearable. XXXX

Brief Answer: These two are different issues Detailed Answer: Hello Mr. XXXXXXX Handerson, Your pinch nerve in neck and wrist swelling are not related to each other. It looks to me that there can be wrist synovitis or septic arthritis. Both conditions are common In AIDS patients. Infection in AIDS patient can occur without fever also.So I would suggest you to get your wrist ultrasound and blood investigation like ESR, CRP and WBC. If these test shows any sign of infection then you will need antibiotics. If there is no infection but ultrasound shows fluid collection then it is synovitis and need compression bandage and painkillers. I hope you are already taking Pregabalin and Methylcobal for your pinch nerve in neck. That you should continue to take. Till you show to your doctor i would suggest you to take Brufen tablet for pain relief. Let me know if i missed some thing. Feel free to ask any other thing if you want. Thanks and take care.
