Is Polyp In Endocervical Canal Fatal?
Question: My wife is diagnosed with polyp in endocervical canal and also with bulky uterus and left ovary. She is 38 years of age and had four miscarriages prior to delivering a child in 2010. My question is the diagnosed result fatal ?
Brief Answer:
its not fatal at all.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
If there is a polyp in the endocervical canal then it can be easily removed either hysteroscopically or if it is small then even as a office procedure. it is unlikely to be the cause of previous miscarriages as uterine body is unaffected. This is usually a benign condition , though should be evaluated with histopathology after removal.
if she has already delivered a child then the endocervical polyp is not the reaason for previous abortions. However it can cause obstructive symptoms and hence advised to be removed.

Is bulky uterus and ovary not a matter of concern also ?
Brief Answer:
bulky uterus and ovary are relative terms ...explained
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the follow up.
Bulky uterus simply is a vague termed used by radiologists when they cannot define the probable cause of slightly enlarged uterus or ovary. The bulk may be possibly because of adenomyosis which is a form of myometrial endometriosis and common in women with endometriosis. This may cause heavy painful menses in women and can be confirmed with an MRI .
The isolated buly left ovary can be simply because of a follicular cyst developing or due to multi follicular recruitment of follicles depending on the stage or time of cycle.
It is requested that you may attach the USG report with the query for me to be able to guide you better.
Thanks,
Regards,
Dr.Samiir Kumar.
