Is Pregnancy Possible After Ovarian Cyst Removal?

Question: I am 27 yrs old, underwent laprascopy for endometriosis nd got removed my chocolate cyst in Lt ovary of size 4cm..adhesions of the Lt ovary with uterus was also released..fallopian tubes normal nd patent..uterus normal..rt ovary mild pcod changes present but all hormones all normal nd ovulation also normal..male factor also normal..wat r the chances of me getting preg after surgery?is ther chances of me getting preg without ivf?actually my Rt ovary is normal only but I dint conceive even aft 3 cycles of induction..then only we went for lap..will tis surgery cure my disease nd make me conceive ?many say that for endometriosis success rate s good only with ivf? Do I need ivf? Pl help

Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply :

1) Endometriosis with adhesions is a problem to conceive. It is good that you got the chocolate cyst removed Laparoscopically.

2) You need to understand the fact endometriosis is going to recur and in some instances within 6 months. Adhesions are going to be more severe this time after one Laparoscopic surgery. Hence you need to hurry up trying for pregnancy.

3) Undergo ovulation induction with IUI (intrauterine insemination) treatment for next 3 cycles. If you dont conceive, go with IVF.

4) The recurrence is a possibility.

Sir thanks for your reply I understand the situation..is there a possibility of me conceiving with induction nd IUI...I am very much concerned that I wanted to avoid ivf..I am not financially sound to manage ivf expenses..now that surgery s done nd cyst I removed..can i not conceive normally atleast with IUI nd induction..wat s the need for ivf? Wat kind of probs this endometriosis can cause with conception even after surgery..I understand that there s possibility of recurrence but can't I get conceive before that with induction nd IUI...

Hi,

Adhesion formation and recurrence are major issues especially after 6 months.

Hence I suggest try IUI for 3 months with ovulation induction. If you don't conceive, go for IVF.
