Question: I have implanon inserted in my arm but I got a positive ovulation test two weeks ago and a positive one yesterday. Why is this? I thought implanon stops ovulation?

Brief Answer:
May be your Implanon is not working properly.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

I can understand your concern, though.

It is true that Implanon prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation and getting to the cervical mucus thick.

If your ovulation kit shows positive results after Implanon, you should consult your treating physician for the same and get your ultrasound pelvis and hormone level done to rule out the cause.

There are three causes behind your problem-

-Implanon is not functioning properly, so you may get pregnant, so require another method of contraception.
-Results are false positive
-Other condition like PCOS have high levels of hormone LH, which causes positive result.

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more.

Good luck.
