Is Pregnancy Possible Through Pre-ejaculatory Fluid?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Mar 2016
Question: Hello Sir, I'm a male of 24. I've a serious query on sex and pregnancy issue. My girlfriend and I had sex on 17th january. To be precise, I rubbed my penis on her vagina and there was no penetration. I did not ejaculate either. It was just my pre-cum or pre-ejaculation that touched the outer part of her vagina. We were afraid, so she took an i-pill after around 48 hours of sex. She is 22 years of age. Her last periods was from 3rd to 8th january and the next expected is on 2nd or 3rd february. Now, the first question is that is there any chance of pregnancy? Secondly, is it sure that heavy bleeding might occur in 4-5 days because of the i-pill? If that occurs, what to do? Then, if she's pregnant, what further step can be taken to prevent pregnancy? Moreover, when can we expect the next normal periods if withdrawal bleeding occurs in 4-5 days? Also, how can we know the difference between withdrawal bleeding and periodal bleeding? And, the last question is, how much time will it take to get everything normal (including periods) ?

Hello
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Let me answer your questions one by one -
1. There is no chance of pregnancy since there was no penetration involved.
2. After taking the I pill, she might have withdrawal bleeding after a few days, but it is not compulsory.
3. If bleeding occurs, nothing has to be done for it.
4. Taking I pill is the step to prevent pregnancy. If she still falls pregnant, then tablets can be taken to abort the pregnancy.
5. After the withdrawal bleeding, next period is unpredictable. Because of the I pill, it may be delayed or preponed.
6. There is no major difference between withdrawal bleeding or period bleeding, apart from the timing .
7. It may take upto 1 - 2 months for normal pattern of menstrual cycles to resume.
All the best.

I would like to mention that this is the first time that she has taken an i-pill. Firstly, is there any chance of any kind of infection including urine infection? Secondly, the expected date for normal periods is 2nd-3rd february. If the withdrawal bleeding occurs on around 2nd-3rd feb, then will i consider it to be the normal periods? Tell me precisely, if the timing of both the bleeding coincides, then how will we know if withdrawal bleeding has occured or is it the normal periods that took place? Thirdly, at XXXXXXX how many days after consumption of the i-pill will the withdrawal bleeding occur? less than a week or a week or two? Fourthly, for how long or for how many days will the withdrawal bleeding last? Fifthly, can there be any other side effect than bleeding? Lastly, can there be any problems or side-effects in the future due to this i-pill?

Hello
I pill does not lead to increased chances of any kind of infection.
Yes, if withdrawal bleeding occurs around 2 - 3 February, it can be considered a normal period.
It does not really matter if it is withdrawal bleed or menstrual bleed as long as the pregnancy test is negative 2 weeks after the act.
Withdrawal bleed maximum occurs within 7 - 10 days of taking the I pill.
Withdrawal bleed can last from 1 - 5 days.
Yes, there can be side effects such as - bloating, nausea, headache, feeling of being tired, cramps etc.
They are minor and short lasting.
There is no long term problem or side effect of the I pill, as long as it is not taken repeatedly or frequently.
Take care.

Hello
If she has severe pain and cramps, she can take an antispasmodic ( eg. Drotin, Meftal spas, Buscopan ) etc.
Withdrawal bleeding does not mean anything - she can be pregnant or non pregnant and still have withdrawal bleeding.
If the pregnancy test is positive, combination of Mifepristone and Misoprostol tablets have to be taken in the right dosage and schedule.
It is COMPULSORY, not just necessary to consult an OB - GYN before taking the abortion pills, else it is dangerous for your friend.
Take care.
